Main :: Solar Eclipse 2008
 A total solar eclipse occured on Friday, 1st of August 2008, in northern Canada, the Arctic, and Asia. Here in Novosibirsk we enjoyed the extremely nice weather and clear skies, which made the eclipse observation very successful and remarkable!
Below you will find several comments and even personal astronomical pages with more details about the eclipse, as seen from Novosibirsk on August 1st, 2008, by our individual travelers and groups, in English, Greek, German and Russian languages:

From our side, we would like to congratulate Olympia Reisen, its staff and especially
yourselves for the excellent organisation of the recent Urania Eclipse Tour.
The program, the activities, the restaurants, the hotels, the train .... all met or exceeded the expectations of the group and its tour leaders, Rob & Mark.
They were particularly pleased with the quality and the quantity of the food, the observation
arrangements and with the efforts of the guide during their last day in Irkutsk ( where a
large number of problems had to be solved due to the important delay of the plane to Moscow ).
So, in one statement ... Olympia Reisen did a very great job and we will certainly contact
you again for any of our possible trips to Siberia.

just a word of thanks for my trip to Novosibirsk for which you did the hotel booking and visa support - everything went well. The eclipse was beautiful although it seems a long time ago now - I presume the town has gone quiet again.
I found it very easy to get around by bus etc - incidentally, for anyone wanting to get to the Lat 55 hotel, just say to get the metro to the end (north) station, then a 11 tram - goes right by the corner. The hotel also very nice - do you have their email? the website does not give a contact. If you have - I can send a mail thanking especially the ladies at reception who always tried to help even with language difficulties - although there was one Nadia who spoke perfect English. Thanks to her also.

Hey Olessia,
I finally slept till 5 am today. Coming back from Irkutsk has been the hardest to get back on schedule but then it is a long ways from there to here.
Our tour was more than anticipated to Novosibirsk. Your hard work certainly shined every step of the way. You are an exceptional individual and travel agent. Our friendship means so very much to me and I hope that we can continue communication. One day you will visit us here.
The eclipse site you set up for us could not have been more perfect. Folks are still talking about it. And, you must have arranged the mighty wind to blow away the clouds. I came away wondering if all the churches are now out of candles.
What a makeover for the Novosibirsk Hotel. I can remember what it looked like on my visit. And, now a lovely, modern hotel. The staff in the business center was terrific and the conference room state of the art.
Loved the train ride, except the last night in my car with the Russians and their vodka party. But the rest of the group were undisturbed by it as they were two and three cars away. The First Class car is very nice. Too bad there wasn’t enough for everyone but no one made any comments about it. The scenery is so spectacular along the route.
I am working on that opera/ballet tour but what I really need the most is for one of our airlines to begin flying to Vladivostok. A flight from Seattle would do the trick. Maybe s7 might consider it too. I am writing to Alaska Air because I think they used to fly there.
Well, my dear, hope you have been getting some well deserved rest and proper congratulations. Thank you ever so much for your expertise and much hard work. You are the best and the guides you selected were the best. Thank all of them for us. We even found Alexandria’s husband’s dive shop at Lake Baikal.
